There are two ways to utilize the energy your array produces, net metering or feed-in tariff. Net metering means that your power bill is being credited for every kilowatt hour (kWh) that your PV array produces. Feed-in tariff means you sell the power your array produces back to your utility company and North Carolina Green Power. Customer payments, rates and rebates per kWh, vary by utility. NC Green Power currently offers small solar PV systems up to 10kW 15 cents per kWh.
The State of North Carolina offers incentives to assist you in the purchase of a PV array. It covers 35% of the cost as a Personal Tax Credit capped at $10,500. The Federal Government also offers a 30% tax credit. Together these government tax incentives support 65% of the total cost! Please consult your Tax Advisor.
